Great location north of Amsterdam central food is delicious, drinks organic so a little non traditional but great vibe, service and tasty food! Cool fit out.
Ceci n'est pas un hotel. But it sure is delicious. This humongous warehouse-based restaurant sits in a re-developed wharf area next to a funky art-house cinema, and numerous bars and restaurants. It is also one of my favorite experiences in Amsterdam-Noord or anywhere. The food tastes like a friend who cooks well made it for you. You can choose a la carte or prix fixe. My sea bass on mashed potatoes with sautéed mushrooms was genuinely comforting. I ate every bite. So did my 2-year old granddaughter and her serving was almost as big as mine! Attentive service by knowledgeable, gracious and ultra attractive young people when most places are suffering for lack of staff this summer of 2022. Consider the 16 foot chandelier made of glass bottles. The vintage cars perched on a hydraulic lift. The pool table. The open kitchen. On a good day, they open the doors wide and the outside blows in on a gentle breeze.
My husband and I were tipped off to this popular locals spot in North Amsterdam by our Airbnb contact, who happens to work at the restaurant (thank you, Rinze!). Since we didn't have any set plans, we decided to check it out on our last night. Reservations are highly recommended as the place was bustling despite the huge amount of seating. We were greeted so warmly by the manager and head server, and offered a welcome drink on the house when we were seated. The menu is entirely in Dutch, and our server was kind enough to translate the entire thing for us, while offering suggestions based on our preferences. I started with a seafood stew while my husband had a ceviche - we thought these were both a really great start to the meal! For our mains, I went with a fish entree which was light and fresh. My husband had the poussin which he enjoyed. Finally, we each ordered our own dessert, as I had seen the chocolate mousse and wasn't prepared to share! I can't remember what my husband ordered because I was too focused on the perfection in front of me. Highly recommend the mousse, which seemed to be very popular among the other guests as well. I loved getting a taste of the local scene at Hotel de Goudfazant and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for something off the beaten path while visiting Amsterdam.
Again a stellar experience. The poulet is back!!!! Yes!!! Try the local Chateau Amsterdam red wine. Super nice. It is my fav place since years. Service got better and it is always so pleasant you hardly want to leave :)
This is a perfect place to end any evening. Great atmosphere and tremendous food. You'll spend ~$90 without drinks but the care taken by the chefs and the staff was exceptional. It is a little out of the way for those locked into downtown Amsterdam, but the walk from the free ferry is only 15 min and does NOT feel unsafe. You could also Uber or Taxi easily. I will not come to this city without eating here. And I'd recommend you do the same.
This restaurant is an experience, an eclectic and interesting place. I got here with my friend by taking a tram and a local ferry. When you get there you realize that there is no hotel, only the name. If you are not a local most likely you are not going to this place since it is not easy to get to. They offer, "sail in movies" here as well in the weekends during the summer. Locals get by boat here and watch a movie. The food and service are excellent. I have tried beef tongue thinly sliced with gravy for an appetizer and it was delicious, a little rich but very nice. I also had steak with mashed potatoes, an elevated dish that was prepared perfectly. For dessert a typical Dutch dessert that consisted of a light chocolate mouse with roasted almonds and white creamy pudding sauce. The almonds added the crispy texture and it made it very nice. Before we left I was given a shot of local "moon shine" which was a pretty strong but I guess it help with digestion after a rich meal. A very nice new experience in Amsterdam.
Stylish restaurant off the canals. Hard to get to - we got there by sloop. Was surprised to see there was no official dock ... we had to tie up to random pole! Happy to see that it wasn't washed away by the time we got back. I had the lamb shank and enjoyed it. Nice little selection of bottled craft beers too. Small selection on tap but good enough. Worth coming to if you're in amsterdam. Especially if you have access to a sloop. If only for the wonderful talent that graces this establishment!
Incredible place - it's a can't miss experience off the beaten path of Amsterdam. It's a bit tricky to get to - ferry to noord + 2km walk/bike, but worth it. It's hands-down one of the best decorated restaurants that I've ever been to. The building is an old ship factory next to the river het ij and the owners gutted it and remodeled the inside from scratch. When you enter, if the beautiful concrete-top brick based bar doesn't catch your eye, the unique 5m chandelier hanging from the ceiling, or the car suspended on the lift, or the open kitchen should do the trip. In the summer - they open the huge doors and inside becomes outside. Top. The food is actually reasonably priced. Great, seasonal, modern menu. They don't disappoint with the food. Wine selection is nice. Service is really good. They have a large back room for private events. If going during a prime time - make sure to get reservations. Go up noord and escape the city for dinner- the hustle and bustle will be waiting for you at the end of the night.
If you can find it, you'll love it! One more pearl in Amsterdam-Noord. Please keep this one to yourself ;-) The drinks are quite cheap, I think it's 1,80 for a bottle of beer, but please chose wine here ;-), the food is great! You can chose from several starters, main courses and desserts. EUR 8,50, EUR 17,00, EUR 7,50, or you chose the meal deal for EUR 30,50. Go for the lobster, you pay an extra of EUR 7,50 but I think it's worth it. The ambiance is unique in this place and not for sissy's, hceap furniture in an old factory hall decorated loft style well go see for yourself. Reservation definitely recommended!
